Character is defined as "moral excellence and firmness." God's desire for our lives involves inner qualities as well as outward behavior. Therefore, it is imperative to learn what Scripture says about the character of the Christians.

Five Areas To Be Observed
  1. The Call to Fruitful Living: Many people measure the fruitfulness of their lives by the quantity of their activities. But this does not give a true picture. What you are is more important than what you do John 15:4-5

  2. Genuine Love in Action: People have many different ideas about love. But usually these ideas fall far short of the deep, rich qualities of love we learn about in the Scriptures. I e e e. I I I Corinthians 13:4-8
  3. Purity of Life: Taking a stand on the moral absolutes of God's word is not popular. But even though many people seek freedom from all moral responsibility, Christian must live by biblical values. I Thessalonians 4:3-8
  4. Integrity In Living: We struggle each day with issues of right versus wrong, good versus evil. We often tend to rationalize our behavior and compromise God's standards of Integrity. We may explain away or ignore these sins. These are the "vices of the virtuous" sins which may have become accepted as the normal standard. But God is holy, and we must not allow any compromise with sin to infiltrate our lives. Leviticus 19:11
  5. Character In Action: A Christian is not immune to the experience of suffering. Sickness, sorrow, death, disappointment, and pain are experienced by all men. But for a Christian, suffering carries with it the promise of God's sovereign purpose in shaping the inner qualities of life. James 1:2-4
