1. We are incapable of planning Our Own Lives "O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself."
  2. Only God knows the future. "We do not know what lies ahead, but God does, and we have His reassuring "I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go" (Isaiah 48:17)
  3. The will of God brings lifelong blessing. We shall prosper in the word we undertake and succeed where others fail. Light, Joy, Peace and Satisfaction will be ours.
  4. The will of God brings blessing in the life to come. "The world passeth away and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever" (I John 2:17)
  5. God wants us to know His will: The abundant provision God has made for us to discover His purpose for us is an indication of how much He desires it. "Teach me thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies (Psalm 27:11).
  6. God commands us to know His will. "Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is (Eph. 5:17). Of this one thing you may be positive. By one way or another God will make known His plan for you. God will faithfully fulfill all He has promised to you. He will never be behind time. He will never forget. If there is a failure to ascertain God's will, or a failure to follow that will, the failure will always be a human failure.
  7. God commands us to obey His will. It is easier to understand how we are supposed to be obeying (Ephesians 5:1-7), if we read the preceding verses. In verse 14, there is a picture of Christians who are asleep to their privileges and responsibilities. Let us suppose this has been our own condition. We must wake up and rise to our feet, for we have a new life in Christ.

Every Christian has a part…Now it is true that God has a master plan for the world. It is also true that God's plan includes every child of His. But the problem will always be, "Where do I, individually, fit into this plan? What is God's specific purpose for me?" To know the answer is to attain the pathway which leads on to the highest goal in life.

"Where is the place of the center of God's will for my life? Does He want me to be a foreign missionary? Is it His will for me to enter the business world?" Let us be assured first, that you do not need to implore or plead with God to guide you. He wants to. Over and over in Scripture He expresses not only His willingness but His earnest desire to have you trust Him. It is there for each wrong attitude to think that we must persuade God to lead us. God wants us to be willing and anxious to seek His will for our lives.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart: lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy path (Proverbs 3: 5-6)
